Roasted Onions

Here is a recipe by Mrs.Duddlepunk on the mothership that I tried very good and VERY easy.

Take a bag of onions,about 3 lbs. she quartered them I quartered mine & separated them up into more more pieces, add about a tablespoon of water and bake in oven or crock pot, until brown and canalized and soft. They can be put over rice potatoes, and add a nice sweet flavor.RAS

I love onions roasted with other veggies but I never thought to just make a pile of roasted onions.  Sounds yummy!   :)

I recently tried something like this that I read about in a cookbook. But it was with whole onions, with a few cloves stuck in them, with broth, orange juice and orange zest. I think thyme, also. You cut them into quarters to serve. This was for a crockpot but I baked them in the oven for about an hour and a half. It was good, an unusual combination of flavors. Served with mashed potatoes.
